Drought Contingency and Water Conservation Plan

The City of Corinth is mandated to comply with the requirements for Drought Contingency Plans and Water Conservation Plans promulgated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) set forth in Title 30, Part 1, Chapter 288 of the Texas Administrative Code. The objective of the Drought Contingency Plan and Water Conservation Plan is to establish and maintain a policy that will meet the requirement of Sections 11.002 and 11.1271 of the Texas Water Code and the rules of the TCEQ. These regulations require all Public Water suppliers with surface rights of 1,000 acres feet or more to submit water conservation plans to TCEQ and update them every 5 years.

The purpose of the Drought Contingency Plan and Water Conservation Plan is to conserve the available water supply and protect the integrity of water supply facilities regarding domestic water use, fire protection, and sanitation while protecting and preserving public health, safety, and welfare. In addition, the intent is to minimize the adverse impacts of water supply shortages or other water supply emergencies.
