Household Hazardous Waste

Community Waste Disposal Offers a Household Hazardous Waste & Used Electronics Door-side Collection program that encourages safe, easy, and responsible disposal of approved hazardous waste and electronics. It is available to Corinth residents every other Monday, with a once-a-month collection maximum allowed per resident.

How to Schedule your Household Hazardous Waste Pickup

  1. Call CWD at (972) 392-9300, option 2.
  2. CWD will mail you a collection kit.
  3. Assemble your HHW according to the instructions provided.
  4. Place your HHW bags near your front door, garage, or another area in front of your home.
  5. Do NOT place HHW curbside. Please ensure your HHW is visible from the street.

How to Prepare for your HHW & Used Electronics Collection

  • Do not overfill the bag.
  • Only the bag provided to you may be used.
  • Bag must be closed securely.
  • Items outside the bag must be placed in a cardboard box. Items accepted OUTSIDE THE BAG are used electronics, auto batteries, fluorescent straight tubes, CFLs and televisions ONLY.
  • Do not drag the bag.
  • Pack the bag where it will be placed for collection.
  • Wrap multiple fluorescent tubes together with tape. If available, use the original packaging to hold the tubes and stand them up to prevent breakage.
  • Do not fill with pool chemicals as this can start a fire.
  • Place cardboard box(es), containing only acceptable items, next to the bag.

Acceptable HHW Material Examples

  • Aerosols containing flammable or hazardous material
  • Art / Hobby Supplies: adhesives, paint, cleaners, correction fluid, photography chemicals
  • Automotive Products: Cleaners, lubricants, solvents, fuel, brake fluid, antifreeze, fuel additives, used motor oil and used oil filters
  • Batteries, lubricants, fluorescent tubes / bulbs, lamps, thermostats and thermometers
  • Paint. Nail polish, shoe polish and spot remover
  • Poison: herbicides, insecticides bait and fertilizers
  • Consumer electronics: Computer monitors, televisions, printers, mouse, keyboards, laptops, CPU's, and handheld computers

Unacceptable HHW Material Examples

  • Ammunition
  • Medicine
  • Explosives
  • Asbestos 
  • Any materials in unlabeled or leaking containers
