CORINTH POLICE DEPARTMENT MERGER UPDATE

POLICE

CORINTH, TX, October 18, 2021- Although the City of Corinth values collaboration with all neighboring municipalities,  the City has determined that the proposed merge with Lake Dallas is not in the best interest of our residents. Thursday, October 14, City Manager Bob Hart notified the City of Lake Dallas that Corinth would not be continuing the Police Department’s participation in the interlocal agreement to merge the two departments.

While we look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with our neighboring communities, we ultimately chose to make a decision that was difficult, but, in the eyes of our public safety officials and city management, the smartest choice for our city at this time. The safety and security of Corinth and Shady Shores residents and police officers is always our first priority.  Due to safety and liability risks from inconsistent management and training procedures, the decision was made to terminate the agreement promptly rather than waiting 12 months.  The Corinth Police Department remains committed to being a best-practices organization, and will continue to assist Lake Dallas officers when needed, as has always been the case, and will work together to ensure a smooth dissolving of the agreement.
