CORINTH POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES PROMOTION OF CAPTAINS JIMMIE GREGG AND JESSE HUNTER TO DEPUTY CHIEF

CORINTH, TX, December 22, 2025 – The City of Corinth is proud to announce the promotion of Captain Jimmie Gregg and Captain Jesse Hunter to the rank of Deputy Chief with the Corinth Police Department, recognizing their long-standing service, leadership, and commitment to public safety.

Police Chief Wendell Mitchell praised both promotions, stating, “Deputy Chiefs Gregg and Hunter bring deep experience, integrity, and a strong understanding of our community to their new roles. Their leadership has already had a lasting impact on this department, and I am confident they will continue to strengthen our operations and support our officers and residents as members of the executive command staff.”

 

Deputy Chief Jimmie Gregg

Deputy Chief Jimmie Gregg began his law enforcement career in 1997 with the Gainesville Police Department and joined the Corinth Police Department in 1999. Over more than 25 years with Corinth, he has advanced through the ranks, serving as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and now Deputy Chief.

Throughout his career, Deputy Chief Gregg has served in numerous operational and leadership roles, including Patrol, Tactical Team leadership, Training, Professional Standards, Support Services, and Accreditation Management. He currently oversees Criminal Investigations, School Resource Officers, Community Services, Training, Support Staff, and the Drone Unit, and serves as team lead for the Department’s Peer Support Team.

Deputy Chief Gregg is a certified police instructor and has provided extensive training to both officers and the community in areas such as use of force, active shooter response, and crime prevention. He is a graduate of the University of North Texas, Leadership Command College, and the Certified Public Manager program, and holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate. He has been recognized multiple times as Supervisor of the Year and received the Chief’s Award.

A lifelong Lake Cities resident, Deputy Chief Gregg and his wife, Johna, have been married for 28 years and have three children.

 

Deputy Chief Jesse Hunter

Deputy Chief Jesse Hunter brings more than 27 years of law enforcement experience to his new role. His career includes service with the Corinth Police Department, Lewisville Police Department, and the Nacogdoches and Denton County Sheriff’s Offices. Prior to joining Corinth, he held command positions overseeing Patrol and Criminal Investigations in Lewisville.

Since joining the Corinth Police Department, Deputy Chief Hunter has served in Patrol, Professional Standards, Personnel Services, and most recently as Captain of the Field Operations Division, a role he assumed in August 2024.

Deputy Chief Hunter holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate and is a graduate of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration’s School of Police Supervision and School of Executive Leadership. He is a U.S. Army veteran and former Military Police Captain who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, earning the Bronze Star Medal. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Public Administration.

Deputy Chief Hunter and his wife, Rebecca, have been married for 20 years and have two children.
