Enhancing Public Safety
CORINTH, TX, May, 7,2025 – The City of Corinth has begun installing Flock Safety license plate recognition (LPR) cameras as part of an initiative to enhance community safety and assist law enforcement with real-time investigative tools. The first cameras are installed at Meadowview Drive and Garrison Road and will be operational soon. Additional cameras are scheduled for deployment along other major roads throughout the city in the coming months.
Flock cameras capture objective evidence, including license plate information, vehicle characteristics, and time stamps. The system alerts police to stolen vehicles, wanted suspects, and other crime-related alerts entered into national databases. These tools significantly enhance the ability of law enforcement to respond swiftly and accurately.
“Our top priority is keeping Corinth safe, and the installation of Flock cameras is a proactive step in strengthening our ability to prevent and solve crime,” said Wendell Mitchell, Chief of Police. “These cameras provide our officers with critical, real-time information while also serving as a deterrent to those who might commit criminal activity in our city.”
The decision to implement this technology comes after careful evaluation of its success in surrounding communities, where it has proven instrumental in recovering stolen vehicles, identifying suspects, and reducing crime.
The cameras do not capture personal information such as faces or engage in facial recognition, and all data is securely stored and automatically deleted after 30 days unless tied to an active investigation.
As the installation continues across Corinth, residents can expect increased coverage in key traffic corridors and entry/exit points, helping ensure a safer environment for all who live, work, and travel in the city.
