2025 Special Election - Fire Control, Prevention, & Emergency Medical Services District

The Corinth City Council has called for a special election on November 4, 2025 to consider the continuation of the Corinth Fire Control, Prevention, & Emergency Medical Services District. 

Corinth voters approved creating the District and adopting a dedicated one-fourth of a percent (0.25%) sales and use tax in the November 2020 election for an initial term of five years, beginning April 1, 2021 and expiring on March 31, 2026. The upcoming special election will ask voters to consider continuing the District and dedicated sales and use tax for an additional ten (10) years beginning on April 1, 2026 and expiring on March 31, 2036.

What's on the ballot?

Whether the City of Corinth Fire Control, Prevention, & Emergency Medical Services District should be continued for ten (10) years and whether the Fire Control, Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services District sales and use tax should be continued for ten (10) years.

What does this mean for voters?

A "For" vote means the continuation of the district and the dedicated 1/4 cent sales and use tax to fund it's operations for 10 years, beginning April 1, 2026.

An "Against" vote means not continuing the District and the dedicated 1/4 cent sales and use tax for 10 years after the District is set to expire on March 31, 2026.

Does the Fire District impact my property's assessed valuation or property tax bill?

No, the District does not influence the assessed value of your property or your property tax bill. The District only collects a dedicated quarter cent (0.25%) sales tax that is a part of the cumulative 2% sales tax levied by the City on all applicable goods and services purchased by anyone in Corinth. What does the Fire District support?

The quarter cent sales tax collected by the District is dedicated to funding programs and operations related to a fire protection, fire prevention, and emergency medical services district program, including costs for personnel, administration, expansion, enhancement, and capital expenditures in accordance with Texas Local Government Code Sec. 344.151.

For the City of Corinth and the Lake Cities Fire Department, funds from the District have historically been used to purchase essential items such as firefighter training, medical supplies, bunker gear, and rig equipment.
