Elections and Voting

General Election items for consideration may include City Council places, charter amendments, bonds, and CIP projects. Election ballots may also include county, school district, and state propositions. 

The 2024 General Election will be held on May 4th, at Corinth City Hall, 3300 Corinth Parkway, Corinth, Texas 76208. 

During the May 2022 General Election, the residents of Corinth approved a Charter Amendment to increase City Council term limits from two years to three years, with Council Members serving at large by majority vote.   

Beginning at the May 2023 General Election, candidates may apply for a place on the ballot for Mayor, Council Place 2, or Council Place 5. The terms are as follows:

  • Mayor and Council Place 5 shall serve a three (3) year term.
  • Council Place 2 shall serve a two (2) year term, and continuously thereafter, the term of office for Council Place 2 shall be for three (3) years.

Beginning at the May 2024 General Election, candidates may apply for a place on the ballot for Council Place 1, Council Place 3, or Council Place 4. The terms are as follows:

  • Council Place 1 and Council Place 4 shall serve a three (3) year term.
  • Council Place 3 shall serve a one (1) year term, and continuously thereafter, the term of office for Council Place 3 shall be for three (3) years.

Candidate qualifications are as follows:

  • Shall be a qualified voter
  • Shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Shall have resided in the City for 12 months immediately preceding the election
  • Shall not be employed by the City
  • Shall meet all other eligibility requirements of the Texas Election Code

Voter ID Requirements
The Texas Secretary of State has issued new photo ID requirements for Texas voters. Voters who do not possess and cannot obtain one of the approved forms of identification, or for additional election information, please visit the Denton County Elections website or call (940) 349-3200.
