CORINTH WELCOMES NEW PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

CORINTH, TX, March 11, 2021 - The City of Corinth welcomed Glenn Barker as the new Public Works Director. Mr. Barker has extensive professional experience in the utility management field and assumed his new role on February 22, 2021.
 
Glenn earned a bachelor’s degree in government policies from TWU in 2012 and has 16 years of working in the utility sector with Upper Trinity, Lewisville, and DFW Airport. His experience includes capital budgeting, program development, vendor relations, cost reduction, crisis management, asset management, quality assurance, team leadership, and training.
 
“We are excited to have Glenn join the Corinth team,” said City Manager Bob Hart. “We have an outstanding public works department and I know Glenn will be a great asset to this team and the city.”
 
Glenn Barker was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut; he began his career shortly after graduating high school when he enlisted in the U.S. military with the United States Marine Corps. He served nine years in the United States Marine Corps. as a Utility Manager. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he was responsible for overseeing all the maintenance of $12M worth of utility equipment, generators, refrigeration, reverse osmosis portable treatment plants, mobile sand filtration systems, plumbing, and electrical equipment.
 
Through his hard work and tenacity, Glenn rose in his ranks and became a Sergeant. During his time in the military, he received three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals for superior performance.
 
Throughout his tenure within the Utility sector, Glenn has been recognized as a subject matter expert in his field, giving presentations on invasive species mitigation at a state conference. Also, he has initiated KPI/Metrix for asset management, quality control audit, and regulatory programs. He has been able to identify cost-saving opportunities in each plant by significantly reducing unaccounted water loss by implementing effective quality water measures.
 
When not at work, Glenn focuses a great deal on his family and serves as a head coach for little league baseball. He has been married to his lovely wife Adriana Barker for 23 years and has two boys, ages 21 and 22. He also enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with his two rescued dogs.
