CORINTH, TX, July 29, 2021- The City of Corinth has been awarded the prestigious Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) for 2021 from the National Procurement Institute, Inc.  The AEP Award is earned by public and non-profit agencies that demonstrate a commitment to organizational excellence in public procurement and for embracing innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement, and leadership in procurance.

This is the first time that the City of Corinth has received this award. Under the direction of Purchasing Agent Cindy Troyer, the Purchasing Department procures goods and services valued in excess of $23 million annually to support city-wide operations and manages vendor relations for 1,086 vendors.

“This level of recognition is not easy for an organization to achieve. I am proud of our purchasing staff and am appreciative of their continued dedication to professional and ethical procurement practices,” stated Lee Ann Bunselmeyer Director of Finance, Communication & Strategic Services. “Earning this award signifies that our procurement requirements, processes, and staff qualifications conform to the highest standards of fiscal responsibility and transparency in the country.”

The City’s AEP application process is a division-wide effort that took approximately three months to complete. Once submitted, the application was evaluated by an independent Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Committee. Corinth was one of 179 successful applicants, which includes 63 cities, 40 counties, 36 special districts, 19 school districts, 12 higher-education agencies, seven state or provincial agencies, and two others.

The AEP program recognizes excellence in procurement, provides benchmarks for continued excellence, and increases awareness of public procurement as a profession. To learn more about this award, visit the AEP Award Page here.
