Corinth, TX, February 25, 2020 - The 2020 Census is vitally important to Corinth's future. It captures who we are, where we live, and how we’re growing as a city, a region and a nation.

Residents should receive notice from the Census Bureau by mail by April 1, 2020 detailing how to complete the Census for their household. For the first time ever, residents will be able to submit the Census online, by phone or by mail. The online response period begins in March for those that receive their Census invitation before April.

"The 2020 Census is your census, and its success depends on you. It’s a once-in-a-decade chance to inform how billions of dollars in funding are allocated for critical public services like hospitals and health care clinics, schools and education programs, roads and bridges, and emergency response for the next 10 years," stated Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham.

An estimated $675 billion in federal funding is being distributed to states, counties and communities annually based on Census population and household counts. For each 1 percent of individuals not counted, Texas could lose an estimated $300 million every year in federal funding. Denton County could lose $10.2 million in federal funding per year or an estimated $102 million over the next decade for every 1 percent undercount.

The City of Corinth is collaborating with local and regional partners to make the Census a success. This includes working with the North Texas Commission to promote the Census.
