Mobile Food Vehicle Permits

Food Vehicles

A mobile food permit is required for all mobile food vehicles to include and not limited to gas, diesel, alternative fuels, or electric vehicles, enclosed trailers, and food carts that want to operate within the Lake Cities Area. All mobile food vehicles are required to comply with the adopted International Fire Code (IFC) and amendment requirements that have been adopted by Corinth, Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, and Shady Shores.

Some of the items that will be inspected, the list is not all inclusive:

  1. All mobile food vehicles, cooking or not shall have a minimum of one 2A10BC (5lb) fire extinguisher.
  2. Cooking equipment that produces grease-laden vapors shall be provided with a kitchen exhaust hood.
  3. Cooking equipment shall be protected by automatic fire extinguisher system. It shall be maintained and serviced by a state-licensed fire protection inspector and have a current service tag.
  4. Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided with one 2A10BC (5lb) and one Class K fire extinguisher. All extinguishers must have been inspected and serviced by a state-licensed fire protection inspector and have a current service tag attached to the fire extinguisher(s).
  5. Documentation of annual gas leak test completed by approved party (e.g. licensed plumber) if applicable.
  6. Gas detector installed for propane or natural gas, depending on what type of gas is used.

For a food truck permit and fire inspection, you must schedule an appointment with the Lake Cities Fire Department. Food truck fire inspections can be scheduled between M-Th 8:00am - 4:00pm. Please fill out and print the permit application prior to the appointment. 

To schedule a fire inspection for a food truck, please contact the Lake Cities Fire Department Administration at (940) 279-4590. There is an inspection and permit fee and the permit is valid for the calander year. The permit is also valid within the Lake Cities Area of Corinth, Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, and Shady Shores.

All other inspections for food trucks, such as health inspections and permits, are now managed by the pertaining township or city.

Operating without a valid mobile food permit from the Lake Cities Fire Department may result in penalties and fines.
