On Friday, Fire Chief Michael Ross announced to the Lake Cities Fire Department that Chad Thiessen has been promoted to the position of Assistant Fire Chief. This announcement recognizes the significant contribution and leadership that Chief Thiessen has brought to the Fire Department over many years. Chief Thiessen who previously held the title of Deputy Chief will oversee the day-to-day operational activities of the fire department involving suppression, rescue, training, and maintenance.
"It is with great excitement that I announce the promotion of Chad Thiessen. I could not be more proud of him and am confident that he will continue to be a valuable asset to our department," stated Chief Ross. "Chad has demonstrated that he is more than capable of managing the operational aspects of the department as well as providing strong leadership to those under his command"
Chief Thiessen joined the Lake Cities Fire Department in 1993 as a Volunteer Firefighter EMT/Paramedic. He quickly worked his way through the ranks of Driver/Engineer, EMS Coordinator, and Captain. In 2006 he was promoted to Deputy Chief where he managed the Fire Prevention Bureau, EMS and Emergency Management Services.
His dedication to the Lake Cities Community extends far beyond that of his twenty year service to the fire department. Chief Thiessen has served on the Lake Dallas ISD Board of Trustees as Vice President since 2007 and is a Deacon at the Lake Shore Baptist Church.
Chief Thiessen received his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Arts and Science from the University of North Texas. He holds multiple State Certifications including Master Firefighter, Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor II, Master Peace Officer, Arson Investigator, and Fire Officer IV.
