CITY OF CORINTH LOOKS FORWARD TO 2030 WITH CREATION OF STRATEGIC PLAN

strategic plan

The City of Corinth recently worked with Stantec to create the City’s Strategic Plan based on community input and future trends. The Plan is focused on land, infrastructure, and economic development goals and strategies, and it will serve as a guide to help the City determine where to focus its efforts between now and 2030.

"The Strategic Plan is essential for the long term development of the City of Corinth," stated Bob Hart City Manager.  "I am grateful to the city council, city staff, and community that assisted us through this process and look forward to leading the organization in fulfilling the goals established."

The City’s goals include:

  • Attracting quality residential and non-residential development
  • Increasing citizen engagement and proactive government
  • Focusing on regional cooperation (especially among the Lake Cities)

The Plan outlines three areas of recommended strategies and actions:

  • Land development strategies, including policies that will determine the use of land and the aesthetics for all public and private development in town.
  • Infrastructure development strategies, including physical infrastructure such as water; sewer; roadways and drainage; and funding-related policies and policies that relate to human capacity building.
  • Economic development strategies, including activities that will ultimately increase tax revenues.

An innovative process called strategic foresight was used to create this Strategic Plan to achieve the City’s vision for the future. Strategic foresight takes a hard look at the trends in technology, society, economy, environment, and politics, and poses questions such as, “What is the future likely to look like 10 or 20 years from now?” and “Are we ready for these possible futures?”

“This is an exciting step forward for the City, and we’re proud to be part of it,” said Shai Roos, senior urban planner at Stantec. “We used strategic foresight to create the vision for the future and develop strategies to achieve that vision. We work hard to understand our client’s goals, imagine new possibilities together, and create implementable plans.”
