POLICE CHIEF DEBRA WALTHALL ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Walthall-7942

Police Chief Debra Walthall announced her retirement to the staff of the City of Corinth Police Department earlier this month. Her last official day with the City will be August 24, 2018. Chief Walthall has led the Corinth Police Department since September 2008.

Chief Walthall brought about many changes after arriving at Corinth. “One key accomplishment was opening the doors of the police department to our community. Our citizens embraced the concept of learning about our department operations and then getting to work alongside our officers as volunteers to better serve our citizens. Our officers had the desire to communicate more effectively and we developed avenues to make that happen”. There have been many accomplishments during the last ten-years under her leadership, such as achieving accreditation from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Best Practices Program in 2011 and 2015. The police department also received the designation of 14th Safest City in Texas for several years.

“The men and women of the Corinth Police Department are truly professionals that provide the best police services around, second to none and prove it every day. It has been my honor to work with each and every one of you. I will always remember fondly my experiences serving as your chief”, stated Walthall. "It has also been my pleasure to serve the citizens of this great community and I appreciate the many opportunities afforded to me during my tenure. To be able to conclude my career under the leadership of our current City Manager Bob Hart has been a blessing."

"Chief Walthall has been an exceptional leader for the Police Department and the Corinth Community," stated Bob Hart. "She has implemented many programs and services that will continue to benefit the community for years to come. Her leadership and professionalism will be greatly missed."

With approximately thirty-five years in the law enforcement profession Chief Walthall previously served with the City of Allen Police Department and the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
