The Lake Cities Fire Department held their annual awards banquet Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Denton. The keynote speaker was Mike McKenna, Founder-President of TEAM Solutions who talked about pride and accountability. Mr. McKenna is the author of The Response Leadership Sequence and actively coaches and instructs worldwide.

2017 LCFD Award Winners:

The Jeff McInnish Firefighter of the Year Award – Firefighter Aric Enciso
The Mayor Olive Stephens Leadership Award – Captain Todd Webb
The Robbie Robertson Paramedic of the Year Award – Firefighter Ryan Bell
The Rookie of the Year Award – Firefighter George Huber
LCFD Employee of the Year – Senior Admin. Assistant Teresa Fairfield

Fire Chief’s Unit Citations:

Hurricane Harvey Deployment – Crews were deployed between 8-26-17 and 10-6-17 as a state wide mission through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System. Chief Curtis Birt, Chief Chad Thiessen, Chief Brandon Shepard, Captain Michael Grimes, Captain Robert Lambert, AO David Lawler, AO Zach Wardlaw, AO Brad Richardson, FF Kevin Conner, FF Jason Peterson, FF Clint Ferguson, FF Shane Smith, FF Patrick Walsh, FF Adam Scott, FF Clayton Bryan, FF Jim Bloom, FF Adam Brown

Kitten Rescue – Vehicle passenger witnessed another vehicle passenger throw a kitten over the railing on the Lewisville Bridge. Crews were able to get a shovel and rescue the kitten before it fell off the support beam.

Stork Award – Chief Brandon Shepard, AO Greg Ward, FF Jason Peterson, FF Dominic Gonzales, FF Alex Lowery, and FF Tyler Barnhart successfully delivered a baby.

Life Saving Award – AO Greg Ward performed a lifesaving Heimlich on a man who had choked on his food while he was off duty in Lewisville.

Life Saving Award – Kim Lobbes and Terri Collins performed CPR and saved his life after he (Dave Lobbes) had gone into cardiac arrest.
