POLICE VACATION WATCH

badge.jpg2

The Corinth Police Department offers a Vacation Watch Program to provide citizens some comfort while they are out of town. Officers check the residence during their absence and document the times they stop by. Should anything be of concern, action will be taken and home owners will be contacted.

Personal and household crimes are the highest in the warm months when people spend more time away from home on vacations or are involved in outdoor activities. Avoid becoming part of this statistic by signing up for the Police Vacation Watch and following the suggestions below to protect your home, property, and family while you’re relaxing and having fun!

Before You Leave

Make sure your home looks lived in, not empty:

Stop mail and cancel all deliveries or ask a friend to make daily collections

Hide empty garbage cans

Leave shades and blinds in normal positions

Put an automatic timer on several lights

Have a neighbor keep your property maintained

Leave a key with a trusted neighbor

Store valuables in a safe deposit box

Tell a neighbor you trust your departure and return dates. Supply an itinerary with phone numbers where you can be reached in an emergency.

Lock all windows and doors. Double check basement and garage doors before you leave

To take advantage of the Vacation Watch Program, fill out an online form and you will be added to the watch list. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Corinth Police Department at 940-498-22017. In case of an emergency, call 911!
