In May 2016, the City of Corinth purchased property located at 3501 FM 2181. Sitting at approximately 6.08 acres, the existing 32,000 square-foot building will be renovated into a Joint Public Safety Center that will be the future home for the Corinth Police Department and Lake Cities Fire Department. Housing all public safety administration under the same roof will centralize communications and resources.
The site will also include the addition of an 11,820 square-foot fire station. The fire department currently operates out of two stations and a headquarters building that serves the communities of Corinth, Lake Dallas, Hickory Creek, and Shady Shores. The additional fire house will give a much needed presence on the west side of the freeway and will provide back up to the two existing stations.
“As first responders, we greatly appreciate the support from the community and council on this project,” expressed Greg Wilkerson, Assistant Chief of Police. “Our first priority is the safety and well-being of our citizens. Creating this professional and purposeful environment will allow us to continue to administer superior service to residents.”
City Council and the Planning & Zoning Commission approved the site plan for the facility on February 2, 2017. The City expects to break ground in early April.
