Jim Berzina joined the City of Corinth as Interim City Manager on January 5, 2009. Jim has more than three decades of leadership experience. Before his most recent stint in Corinth, he served a long tenure with the City of Wichita Falls as City Manager beginning in 1983 and retiring in 2008. Jim began his public service career with the City of Springfield, Missouri as Assistant City Manager from 1967 to 1970. He continued his career in Missouri working as City Manager for both Warrensburg and Joplin before heading down to Texas where he has remained since then.

In addition to his full-time work, he has served on several boards including the Missouri Municipal League, Missouri City Management Board, Texas City Management Board, International City Management Retirement Board and the International City/County Management Board.

Born and raised in Iowa, Jim earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Government at the University of South Dakota. He earned his Master’s Degree at the University of Kansas.

Function of the City Manager
Council/Manager Form of Government
Corinth operates under a Home Rule, Council/Manager form of Government. Under this type of local government, the day-to-day management of the City is directed by the City Manager.

Chief Administrative Officer
The City Council appoints the City Manager, who serves as Chief Administrative Officer by executing the laws and administering the government of the City, as directed by the City Council policies. The City Manager oversees a consolidated budget of more than $28 million, serving a 7.81 square-mile community of 19,750 + residents.

City Staff Oversight
The City Manager is responsible for all non-appointed City staff, which includes 145+ full-time employees.

The City Manager and staff produce a weekly update to keep citizens informed of City activities and events.
