1. How do I obtain an Outdoor Burn Permit?

To obtain a Burn Permit, fill out the online form and follow the criteria for the city in which you live. All of the areas that we serve are addressed on the web page dealing with outdoor burning, found under the Resources Tab on the Fire Department Homepage.

2. When are the Outdoor Warning Sirens tested?

The Outdoor Warning Sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of every month at 1:00 p.m.

3. Are fireworks permitted in Corinth?

It is against the law to use fireworks within the city limits.

4. Where are the Fire Stations located?

Fire Station 1 is located at 275 Main Street in Lake Dallas. Fire Station 2 is located at 2700 W. Shady Shores Road in Corinth. Fire Administration is located at 3101 S. Garrison in Corinth.

1. Does the Police Department offer fingerprinting services?

Fingerprinting services are provided to the citizens of Corinth by appoint only. The charge for this service is $5 per card, per person. You must provide your own cards. To make an appointment, please contact the Police Department at (940) 498-2017.

2. Do I need to register my residential or business alarm with the City?

As of January 1, 2003, the City of Corinth requires all premises armed with an intrusion, robbery, or panic alarm to be registered with the Corinth Police Department. Stage 2 Drought Contingency Plan

1. What Drought Stage is Corinth in?

Corinth will move to Stage 2 of the Drought Contingency Plan on March 1, 2012. It is prudent to initiate a proactive measure to ensure the integrity of our water supply for domestic water use, sanitation and fire protection by implementing more stringent water restrictions early in the year due to the devastating effects of last summer’s extreme heat and lack of rain.

2. Why are we going to Stage 2 of our Drought Contingency Plan?

While much of the weather that we experience is brief and short –lived, droughts are unique in that they are a gradual phenomenon that in severe cases can last for many years and can have devastating effects on water supplies and agriculture. The increased Texas temperatures contribute to evaporation and soil dryness and other factors that exacerbate drought. The drought that has plagued Texas is virtually certain to continue at least until early summer, climate experts say.

3. What is required in Stage 2?

There are several strategies in Stage 2, but the first details of major importance are, the City shall enforce the regular guidelines for time-of-day (6:00 pm to 10:00 am) landscape irrigation. A mandatory day-of-week watering schedule shall apply. Irrigation of landscaped areas with hose-end sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems shall be limited to Sundays and Thursdays for customers with a street address ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6 or 8) and for locations without addresses; and, Saturdays and Wednesdays for water customers with a street address ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7or 9). Apartments, office building complexes or other property containing multiple addresses may be identified by the lowest address number.

All landscape watering is PROHIBITED for any day or time outside of the Stage 2 mandatory schedule. This restriction includes automatic sprinklers, drip irrigation, soaker hoses and hand watering.

4. Where does Corinth get its’ water?

The Upper Trinity Regional Water District is our supplier and Lake Lewisville is the main resource for the City of Corinth.

5. What is the City of Corinth doing about the drought?

Corinth manages the impact of drought according to its’ state approved Drought Contingency Plan. The plan prescribes actions that will be taken during a drought to save water and ensure there is enough water to meet critical needs. The City calls on its’ residents to take extra steps to use less water during drought.

6. Why is outdoor watering curtailed during a drought?

Most water providers include outdoor watering restrictions in their Drought Contingency Plans because landscape irrigation is one of the largest municipal uses of water during the summer months. Also, most landscapes can survive on less water and therefore water is saved for essential uses in homes and businesses.

7. What is causing the drought of 2011?

A lack of rain coupled with above average high temperatures caused by a strong La Nina weather pattern that started in 2010.

8. How long will the drought last?

It is not possible to accurately predict exactly how long the drought will last. 2011 was a dry year because of the strong La Nina weather pattern. Rainfall in the right place for the sufficient amount of time to refill the lakes is hard to predict. Climatologists are currently predicting however, that the drought will continue at least through early summer of 2012.

The City of Corinth only provides water, wastewater, and storm drainage utilities. The City also provides garbage billing services for Texas Waste Management.
